We are Saved by Jesus' Righteousness

By David J. Stewart

The Bible plainly teaches that we are saved by Jesus' righteousness. In the Old Testament Book of Psalms, we find the phrase “thy righteousness” mentioned 24-times. So many churches and religious camps these days have wandered away from the true gospel taught in the Bible. Biblical salvation is when we come as a SINNER and trust upon the SAVIOR. We are saved by THY RIGHTEOUSNESS, i.e., the imputed righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalms 71:24, My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

Psalms 119:40, Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

Psalms 119:123, Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.

Psalms 13:5, But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

Psalms 70:4, Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.

Psalms 119:123, Mine eyes fail for thy salvation, and for the word of thy righteousness.

Psalms 119:166, LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments.

Psalms 119:174, I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.

We just looked at 45 Scriptures which speak of THY RIGHTEOUSNESS and THY SALVATION. Clearly, salvation is of the Lord. Most professed Christians fail to comprehend this truth. They are not truly saved. Genuine salvation is rooted in FAITH in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, the Lamb of God Who taketh away the sins of the world. Salvation has nothing to do with mankind. It is the gift of God. Salvation is receiving, not giving.

1st Corinthians 15:1-4 defines the Gospel as Christ's DEATH, BURIAL and RESURRECTION. Having faith in Jesus in a false Gospel if it leaves out the cross. Many churches today are falling into the trust Jesus religion, which is not God's plan of salvation. There can be no salvation without the cross upon which Jesus Christ shed His precious blood to wash away our sins (1st Peter 1:18-19). Don't let the Devil lure you into a false Gospel that leaves out the cross; namely, Christ's death, burial and resurrection.

Those who believe that they must amend their ways or surrender their life to Christ to be saved are not saved. Those who believe that they must abstain from sin or else they'll lose their salvation are not saved. Those who believe that they must persevere or continue in the faith are not saved. It is only those who solely rest upon the redemptive work of Jesus Christ who are saved. Christ bore the burden of our sins on Calvary's cross! Beware of any false prophet who attempts to place the burden to change or transform one's life upon the sinner to be saved. It is a false Gospel of self-righteousness. Christ paid it all. Eternal life is a free gift! Our part is simply to trust upon the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Acts 10:43, “To Him give all the prophets witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins.”

"...Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." —Zechariah 4:6
