Hanging On Your Own Gallows

by David J. Stewart

Esther 9:25, “...his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.”

In the Old Testament book of Esther we read how Satan through Haman tried to destroy God's people (the Jews). Haman hated Mordecai (a Jew) because Mordecai DIDN'T bow down to him like everybody else did. The world today is bowing down to the New World Order, but there are still many Mordecais (God-fearing Christians) today who refuse to bow.

The Bible says that many of the Gentiles in the land became Jews...

Esther 8:17, “And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.”

That is fascinating, because it is IMPOSSIBLE for a Gentile to become a biological Gentile. Clearly, the Bible means that the Gentiles became Christian believers, placing their faith in the God of Israel.

Galatians 3:26-29 says, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Amen! If you are a born-again Christian, then you are a spiritual Jew. You are as much a Jew as any Jew. In fact, unsaved biological Jews are NOT heirs of the promises of God. Unsaved Jews all go to hellfire forever. There is NO respect of persons with God (Romans 2:11). Romans 1:16 says that the power of God unto salvation rests in THE GOSPEL of Jesus Christ. That is, Christ's death, burial and resurrection (1st Corinthians 15:1-4).

Because of Haman's hatred and malicious attack against Mordecai, it led to the hanging of all 10 of Haman's sons. Oh, how sin destroys the lives of others, especially loved ones...

Esther 9:13, “Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do tomorrow also according unto this day's decree, and let Haman's ten sons be hanged upon the gallows. And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman's ten sons.”

Beware Of Bad Advice From Wicked Family Members And Evil Friends

Listen carefully to what I'm about to say friend. It was Haman's heathen wife (Zeresh) and wicked friends who suggested that he build a gallows for Mordecai. That's right, it wasn't Haman's idea to hang Mordecai. It was his wicked wife and friends that gave him the idea...

Esther 5:14, “Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet...”

That is so horrible! Haman's own wife and so called friends are telling him to build a gallows to murder an innocent man, and then GO MERRILY UNTO THE BANQUET. Her hateful spirit, going along with Haman's hateful spirit, and their rotten friends... cost them the lives of their ten sons!!! Haman was hanged and all his sons!!! My friend, when you hate someone and strive to hurt them, your days are numbered. Hebrews 9:27 says that every person has an appointment with death AND THEN THE JUDGMENT. Ecclesiastes 12:14, “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” I fear God and don't want to hurt any other human being in any way. Do you feel that way? I read an incredible Scripture yesterday O THAT THEY WOULD BE WISE, THAT THEY UNDERSTOOD THIS, THAT THEY WOULD CONSIDER THEIR LATTER END!

The Bible says that Haman was hanged upon his own wicked device...

Esther 9:24-25, “Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them; But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.”

My friend, when you maliciously attack and try to destroy the good name of other people, you are laying up judgment against yourself when you stand before God. Matthew 7:1-2 warns, “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” The Bible warns against condemning OTHERS.

Heed the perceived lesson from Haman's obsession with self-glory, hatred and ploy to harm a Christian. The Bible says it would be better that you were never born than for you to cause one of God's children to stumble. Although God certainly has a special concern for innocent little children, the following Scripture refers to Christians. Jesus mentioned those “which believe in me.” Matthew 18:6, “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” Did Jesus mean that children who don't believe in Him are excluded? That is the only conclusion you can come to if this verse applies literally to little children. Clearly, the Lord was referring to each and every child of God which believes in Him. Amen!

Haman's wife suggested that he go build a gallows to hang Mordecai on, and then unbelievably she said in Esther 5:14...

“...then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet.”

Wow, what a jerk! She and his wicked friends tell Haman to go build a gallows to hang an innocent man and then GO PARTY!!! And he did just that, not realizing that the hand of God's judgment was against him. It was at the party that Haman ended up being sentenced by the king to hang upon His own gallows.

My friend, consider yourself warned. Even if you get away with hurting OTHERS in this life, your day is coming...

Psalms 37:7-13, Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.”

The days of the wicked are numbered. We as born-again Christians will be enjoying the pleasures of Heaven very soon. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! I thank God that I am on the winning side in Christ Jesus. When I ponder the Scriptures and realize just how fortunate I am to have found the truth in Christ Jesus, I am greatly humbled to tears. The good news of the Gospel is precious indeed. Jesus died to pay for our sins, by shedding His precious blood for our iniquities. The Lord was buried and rose from the dead three days later. He ascended into Heaven and is now seated on the right-hand of the Father, making intercession for the saints (Romans 8:34; Colossians 3:1-3).

The wicked will one day hang upon their own gallows. If you hurt OTHERS, it will come back upon you. Matthew 7:1-2 warns that we will all be judged by the very same measure by which we have judged and condemned or forgiven OTHERS. The Christian life is about living for OTHERS (Philippians 2:4-5). Haman's sinful pride and hatred caused him to become obsessed with destroying Mordecai and the Jews. The Lord protected His people and Haman's plot backfired, costing he and his ten sons their lives. I wonder how Mrs. Haman felt after her husband and ten sons were all hung, knowing it was her idea to build a gallows in the first place...

Esther 5:14, Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet...”

Again, the Bible says that many of the Gentiles in the land became Jews (Christians)...

Esther 8:17, “And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.”

Since it is biologically IMPOSSIBLE to become a Jew, then we can only reasonably conclude that these Gentile people became Christians. Amen! Judgment day is coming for everyone. I don't know about you, but I'm so glad that I'm a Christian. Thank you Lord Jesus!

May we all live in the fear of God, loving other people unconditionally with God's love and being careful how we treat OTHERS. Matthew 7:12 says to treat OTHERS the way we would like to be treated. This is THE GOLDEN RULE. The wicked who steal, cheat, lie, connive and hurt OTHERS will one day hang upon their own gallows. What goes around does come around according to Ecclesiastes 12:14, “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”

It's not what you're doing that gets you to Heaven, it's where you're looking. Look to Jesus!
