God Loves People

By David J. Stewart

1st John 3:16, “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down
his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

The Bible teaches that God loved the world so much that He willingly laid down His life for us, to redeem us from all iniquity and sin. Jesus came into this world to SAVE SINNERS!

Jesus came as the manifestation of the Godhead to mankind (1st Timothy 3:16; Colossians 2:9). In Jesus, we saw the Father and the Holy Spirit, for they are one in the same Godhead. There is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), but He has revealed Himself to humanity in 3 Persons; namely, God the Father, God the Son and God the holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). If you have a trustworthy King James Bible, then you will find the important word “Godhead” in Acts 17:29, Romans 1:20 and Colossians 2:9. Modern corrupt Bible versions deceitfully remove this word, thus attacking the deity of Jesus Christ.

God's love is unconditional. God loves us, not for who we are, but because of Who He is. Amen! This is Biblical love that the sinful does not understand. Genuine love is not conditioned upon anything. God's love for mankind is unconditional. Jesus died for all men, even the vilest Christ-rejecter. Proof of this is found in 2nd Peter 2:1, “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”

Jesus bought those false prophets, even though they openly rejected Him and were corrupting others with their lies. The Bible says that they bring upon themselves swift destruction. Just because God punishes the wicked does not mean that He doesn't love them. 1st John 3:16 teaches that God laid down His life for us. Some falsely claim that Jesus only died for those who would one day become believers, i.e., the redeemed. However, John 3:16 teaches that Jesus died for “the world.” John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Amen and amen!

God loves people. Jesus died for all men. 1st John 2:2, “And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” Here again we find the words, “whole world.” Jesus gave His life for the WHOLE WORLD. That includes you and me. God loves you.

Please don't be deceived, God will not compromise His Word for anyone. If a person dies in their sins without the Lord, they will go to the Lake of Fire for ever and ever. Revelation 20:15, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” God's unconditional love has made a way of escape for mankind, but we must obey the gospel to be saved. All God requires is that we come as guilty SINNERS and believe on the SAVIOR. Jesus Christ has already done the work for us, by sacrificing His precious blood to wash away our sins (1st Peter 1:18-19).

There are many religious teachers today who claim that God doesn't love sinners. This is particularly true of Calvinists, who errantly believe that Jesus only died for the saved. In sharp contrast, the Bible teaches that God loves the whole world, and God His life for all mankind. Calvinists also believe that God chooses who will be saved or lost. Again, the Bible does not teach this doctrine. Repeatedly in the Scriptures we find the word “whosever.”

God has given to mankind a freewill to decide for himself where he will spend eternity. God never forces anyone to get saved, nor does He force anyone to go to Hell. Each and every human being must decide for them self whether or not to obey or reject the good news of Christ crucified, buried and risen. If you believe on Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God, to forgive your sins, then you will be saved (John 20:31; Acts 4:10-12; Romans 10:13).

God loves people. This is the heart of the Bible, for God is love. 1st John 4:8 and 16, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”

The hallmark quality of a Christian who is right with the Lord is that they care. God cares (1st Peter 5:7). Most people mistake sinful compromise for love, thinking that love means to tolerate false religion, sin and wickedness in society. The opposite is true. Genuine love is telling people the truth, standing against wickedness that destroys families, and loving our neighbor as our self.

God loves people! Tell it near and far. God loves people, just as you are. God hates the sin, but He loves the sinner. I once heard Evangelist Ray Comfort publicly tell a group of people that God doesn't love unrepentant sinners. Mr. Comfort is ignorant of the Scriptures. God loves the vilest sinner who spits in His face. This doesn't mean that God approves of the sin, nor does it mean that God condones anyone's wickedness. It simply means that God's love is unconditional, evidenced by the fact that Jesus laid down His life for all sinners. 1st Timothy 2:5-6, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom FOR ALL, to be testified in due time.” Jesus gave Himself as a ransom for all. “All” means everyone. You don't have to be a Greek scholar to understand that.

God loves people! Some people foolishly think that God would never send anyone to Hell to burn in flames. They know not the God of the Bible. The Bible not only teaches that the wicked will go to Hell, but also that God will take out His vengeance upon them in FLAMING FIRE (2nd Thessalonians 1:8-9). The sinful world cannot understand how a God of love could destroy the entire world by flood, or put a soul in Hell. What they fail to realize is that God is also a holy God, whose holiness demands justice and punishment for sin. Most people have misconceptions concerning Who God is. God loves all mankind, but He demands obedience to His Word. If we do not obey, then we will face God's wrath on Judgment Day.

Ezekiel 33:11, “Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?” Ezekiel 33:11 teaches us that God has no pleasure when the wicked die in their sins. If God didn't love the wicked, then he wouldn't care if they went to Hell forever. God does not want anyone to perish in their sins (2nd Peter 3:9).

Unconditionally, God loves people!
